Dear _____ Thank you for reaching out to my office regarding data centers in Spokane County. I have heard from many constituents that they have concerns about data centers operating within our county. I spent last week learning more about this issue from environmental leaders and communities across the nation. Avista announced on Friday that they would be pausing the contract with the proposed data center, however, this is a topic that will remain relevant in Spokane County. In the coming weeks, I’ll continue to speak with _______ and work with my fellow Commissioners to create a plan to ________ In their press released, Avista announced they are taking additional time to evaluate the processing of energy requests from new large data center developers as it seeks to partner with governmental agencies on creating a clear and coordinated planning process and as the company considers additional stakeholder feedback. I commit to be a strong partner in this important decision and will do what I believe is best for all residents of Spokane County.
