Good morning, Due to the work, we have done trying to help Spokane County jurisdictions move towards treatment first with our MOU, I was tasked with providing a list of names to an Invitation only HUD event on March 19th. There are only three jurisdictions in the County of Spokane that have not approved the MOU. We knew that the City of Spokane was going to be difficult but did not think that Spokane County and the City of Spokane Valley would be a problem. My thoughts are that you are being pressured from the City of Spokane to not sign onto the MOU. You six were on my list for the event on the 19th. My list is just suggestions; HUD makes the final choices and will provide the Invitation by email. If you have received an invitation, the invitation is for you only and cannot be transferred. All the Mayors of the jurisdictions that signed the MOU were invited. The goal of the MOU was to get ahead of the transition to treatment and collectively work together as a community, not individual jurisdictions. I believe that this meeting will explain what we can soon expect. It was our hope that you would have signed onto the MOU prior to the meeting to show support. I look forward to seeing you at this event if HUD provides an Invitation. There is one more important part of the event. I have worked with Andrea Suarez of We Heart Seattle over the past year, she is probably the most important service provider in Seattle concerning the Homeless, Drug Addicted, and Mentally Ill unsheltered. Her organization has over 50,000 volunteer hours in the Seattle area. Through my work with her, I was able to get Andrea an invitation and am paying for her and another to fly to Spokane for this meeting. I have reached out to the DSP, SBA, DWD, Safe and Healthy task force, Hello for Good, and others to see if they would like to meet after with Andrea.
