Good Afternoon STA Board Members, Thank you for your participation in the May Board meeting and for your steady attention and focus in moving transit forward in our region. Week Highlights - The May markup began last Sunday that saw some minor route adjustmentsto improve schedule adherence. Even minor changes require an orchestrated effort across multiple divisions and departments, from Communications, Web Services, Customer Service, Facilities, Vehicle Maintenance, Service Development, Applications Administration, and of course, Fixed Route Transportation. The success of the markup also is possible in no small part due to the success of the Human Resources and Safety & Training departments, as this is the first time in many years in which we have a full complement of coach operators. This is also a sign of maturation in our service growth plans. - Last Sunday was also the launch of new help desk software, Zendesk, for STA's Information Technology Department, as they support hundreds of endpoint devices throughout the agency with over 5,500 support tickets in the past year. The service help the IT team better manage our systems and provide improved support to STA users, while enabling STA to gain better analytics around response and resolution times, as well as collect user feedback through automated surveys. - The Boone Electrical Upgrades project was extra visible this week for those of in the Boone North building. The project replaces electrical panels, motor control centers, generators, automatic transfer switches, and feeders throughout the Boone North and Boone South buildings that are beyond their useful life. Most of the components are now 40 years old. This week's work included a series of nighttime power shutdowns in Boone North to allow for panel replacements. Jessica Kelch, Senior Project Manager for Facilities Master Plan & Implementation, put forth heroic effort, overseeing successful nightly transitions that avoided any impacts to service operations, while still managing to coordinate with staff during the day. I hope she is having a restful weekend! Week Lookahead - As I shared on Thursday, we have begun public education presentations on the STA Prop. 1 ballot measure. For this coming week, this includes presenting to the GSI Regional Advocacy Council. There is a web page dedicated to information on the proposition and we are in the process of printing more informational brochures that we will make available for the public. - This coming Saturday is the STA Bus Roadeo at STA's training grounds immediately south of the Spokane County Fairgrounds! It will take place beginning 8AM and is expected to continue until around 2pm. Board members and their families are invited to join us to watch the events and enjoy food and fun!
