Projects like this drive up electricity costs for everyday ratepayers, strain water and power resources, and offer very few permanent local jobs relative to the land and infrastructure they take up. I don't believe Spokane's growth should come at the expense of the people already living here. Specifically, I'm asking that you: - Require large power users (like data centers) to pay for all of their own infrastructure costs - Require them to fund renewable energy sources that match 100% of their electricity use - Require utilities to shut off power to data centers first to prevent blackouts, not residents - Increase transparency in the planning process so the public isn't blindsided - Reject any electric rate increases tied to adding large-load customers like data centers I'd like to see a full public review of water usage, energy demand, and rate impacts before anything moves forward.
