FYI- As the taskforce winds down without a specific proposal, I thought you might get some value of reviewing some thoughts I shared with the facilitators about what a more specific proposal could look like. I don’t expect them to incorporate these thoughts at this stage given the direction they are receiving from the conveners, but it’s not too soon to start imagining a proposal that could make us all safer at a lower cost to taxpayers. 😊 I would love to talk further as your schedules allow. Kate, Here are some thoughts after our third meeting that may be useful as you continue to craft recommendations coming out of the Facilities Advisory Group. I also attached the 2020 County Report on JFA’s jail bed projections and the Petrich article on the impact of jail time on recidivism (the highlighting was provided by the criminal justice professor who shared it with me and all the superior court judges at last year’s judicial conference.)
