I’m seeing that House Bill 2266 was prefiled to encourage permanent supportive housing, emergency shelters, and transitional housing through city and county zoning. If adopted, permanent supportive housing must be permitted in any areas not zoned for residential use and there could not be more restrictive codes for these types of housing that other types of residential development. From the Olympian - This year, Democrats could consider eviction workarounds, permanent supportive housing and financing for rural homes, per the Washington State Standard. Rep. Shaun Scott, D-Seattle, is forging ahead with his proposed new tax targeting large employers with high-paid workers. Under his bill, companies with more than 20 employees and $5 million in gross receipts would pay a tax on payroll expenses for those workers earning more than $125,000 a year. He held a press conference Tuesday to tout it. Washington Democrats are also considering a potential income tax on millionaires heading into 2026 and may rekindle a “wealth tax” that sputtered out earlier this year. Are there any other things in the media about what legislators might be bringing forward in terms of housing bills or a wealth tax (rather than just what the Governor is proposing?). Would love a quick review -- the Olympian is always a good source – I think there have been Spokesman articles, too. Don’t worry about too much details -- just wondering if there have been any articles in the past few weeks… Have you done a google media search before? It might be good to set up one of these, which sends you a list of articles about certain topics every day.
