Finally, as the childcare media landscape was discussed at yesterday's meeting, attached is the report mentioned that I presented to INWELA last month. Here's a brief synopsis: - Negative framing in 2025 has far outweighed positive framing—roughly 2-to-1 in what’s getting headline attention. The dominant storyline is still “childcare under strain,” with “solutions/investments” showing up as distant secondary thread. - 2024-2025 saw a 63% increase in mentions of childcare in major national news outlets compared to the previous decade largely due to political campaigns focused on the issue. - September to January saw 91% of childcare mentions in national news as negative compared to 9% positive. This was largely due to stories highlighting accusations that minority owned childcare providers misused government funds.
