I am okay with having Ashley connect. But I do want to make sure we know the relationship between Cindy and Cynthia. Maybe Heather has that info. Cindy seems like she just wants to work part-time. So we need to talk to HR on what we need to do for the Extra-Help status vs part-time. I think if we have her 25 hours a week then she would be an employee with benefits. I am also glad that Cindy wants to come back to the law library. She will be an asset. I liked your suggestion that we get to know her better and she can get to know us better. I agree with Ashley that there’s great potential in the law library. Although the unanticipated departure has made for a challenging week, it’s an opportunity. I’m also in favor of her coming back to help. Given her vacation & Ashley’s proposed 2/17 start date, I don’t know that we need to expedite a Zoom tomorrow at 7. If the full Board supports, Ashley can schedule a meeting with Cindy to get more information about how Cindy can fit in. Then it would make sense to regroup for a meeting. But I can make tomorrow work if folks disagree. (not sure about the tiny font change - sending from phone as I’m waiting for 5 pm oncology massage.)

Dear Board (minus Ashley and Jeff), I am glad Cindy Newell did not share the same sentiments that Cynthia Lucas expressed and, instead, enjoyed working for the Library. The plan to stop by “on her own time” to help is nice but unexpected. Should we hop back on a Zoom? I have time tomorrow at 7 am or noon. I also have time on Thursday between 7-7:45 am. I am in favor of having her come back to help. She could certainly help us better understand day-to-day operations. Although not critical to deciding now whether to invite Ms. Newell back on a part-time basis, if adopting that proposal becomes a long-term option, in addition to fill-in by Court Admin, I am not clear whether the Library would save money on Ms. Lucas’ salary. Or, alternatively, would the Library be required to absorb any portion of the Court Administrative Office/Facilitator’s pay, in addition to paying Ms. Newell what she was making as part time help? That said, she indicated she enjoyed working at the Law Library and could continue to work up to 25 hours per week. She indicated to Heather that she had planned to stop by “on her own time” to help out Shelly and Alaina. She does have a planned vacation scheduled at the end of the week next week. If the Board wants to explore having Ms. Newell come back on a part time basis, I would propose I meet with her to discuss what that would look like. I would want there to be scheduled hours so we can effectively manage the Library without stepping on each other’s toes. My suggestion would be to have Ms. Newell return starting February 17 as to not conflict with her scheduled vacation. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. HR is going to hold off on processing Ms. Newell’s separation from employment until the Board gives direction. Thank you!
