Dear Task Force members, Thank you again for the extraordinary time, care, and expertise you have brought to the Safe and Healthy Spokane Task Force process. This work has moved quickly, and we recognize how much you have given to stay engaged, offer feedback, and remain at the table — including when the conversations have been complex and challenging. We are writing to share an update on the timing of the final report rollout. Over the past several days, we have heard from Task Force members who would like additional time together to review and discuss the final draft of the report before it is released publicly. We also recognize that our last meeting ran short on time and did not allow for the level of discussion many members hoped to have before the report moved into a public rollout. We hear that feedback, and we want to honor it. As a result, we are moving the press conference that had been planned for May 27 and will instead bring the Task Force back together on June 2 for a collective conversation about the final report. We are in the process of confirming location availability and will follow up with a calendar invite for the June 2 meeting. We will also reschedule the public press conference to be held after the June 2 Task Force convening and will share more information about how to participate in that event. Attached is an embargoed draft of the final report so you have time to review and digest it before the June 2 convening. Out of respect for that conversation, we ask that you please not share the draft publicly at this time. After the convening, we will finalize the report and confirm plans for broader public distribution. We are also including a draft companion piece that will accompany the report. Because the report is lengthy, we felt it was important to lift up some of the essential learnings and key themes that emerged from the Task Force’s time and work together. We are grateful for everyone’s flexibility and for the shared desire to come back together before this important work is handed off to the broader community. The strength of this process has always come from the people around the table and the willingness of Task Force members to engage deeply, thoughtfully, and constructively. Before we ask the broader community to engage with the final recommendations, we want to make sure the Task Force has the time and space to do so together.
