LEAD OPPORTUNITIES Dear Economic Development Partners, Brokers, and Developers, We recognize that our region is actively navigating important conversations around data centers, including their potential impacts on infrastructure, energy, water, land use, and community priorities. With that context in mind, and in the interest of transparency and information sharing, we want to make you aware of a new project inquiry that has come to us from the Washington State Department of Commerce. They have been approached by a site selector representing a European company exploring the potential development of a 200,000-square-foot, 30–40 MW data center in Washington State. The site selector is interested in connecting with communities that may have suitable sites, and is particularly interested in exploring opportunities to use a water body for heat rejection or capture and reuse waste heat for nearby development. As a European company with significant environmental targets, the project team is also exploring ways to minimize the impacts associated with its power demand. The project would utilize batteries to help manage peak demand and, according to the information provided, would not require redundant power. At this stage, we are simply sharing the opportunity with our partners to ensure communities have visibility. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to learn more.
