Dear Representatives Berg and Ormsby, I’m writing to express my opposition to HB 2655 extending the data center tax break to Spokane County. There are many reasons for my stance, but they primarily boil down to two things: - Data centers are extremely intensive users of electricity and water, both of which are crucially important resources in our community that are at times in short supply. - As a region with some of the most severe poverty in the state, quality job-producing economic development is among my highest priorities, and data centers don’t provide the necessary return on investment in terms of either job creation or revenues.
