Hi Scott and Matt, You may have seen recent news coverage of the apparent MOU between Avista and a company proposing a large load data center somewhere in the region. I’ve received a significant number of constituent concerns since the news went public. I am curious to learn more about the current status of any County land use rules that may relate to such a proposed project. Specifically I am curious to know if such a project would currently be allowed “by right” under our current zoning code if it were proposed in the appropriate zone within the County – such as am industrial zone? What types of developments, under our current code, would require a conditional use permit process? What steps are involved in such a process – and who makes the final decision on issuing such permits? Would a large lode data center currently require a conditional use permit?
