As an electronics engineer, I worry about how they intend to dissipate the enormous heat, nearly three times that of existing data centers in the state, without further loading our dwindling water supply and the aquifer. That extends to our county's needed oversite of the shared aquifer in the event Kootenay County wins the data center instead of Spokane County. Also, how will Avista handle increasing power generation by an amount equal to half the power normally distributed across the county? I understand the customer is expected to cover the cost of infrastructure needed, but how will that be enforced? In any case, what will be the effect of that much added load on the cost and reliability of power to businesses and homes, and the effect to the environment which will not be negligible? This has the potential of such impact on Spokane County that I feel the residents are entitled to full disclosure of details and most importantly, a say on how and whether the project will proceed.
